A Natural Fit
One workout routine that I have totally gotten into over the past year is yoga. I have a subscription to Netflix that I use to instantly sneak in a workout on those days when time is not on my side because I chose to sleep in “just a little longer.” I have added various workout videos to my queue so that I have a variety of options to appeal to my sleepy senses. I also have a few DVDs that I work out to religiously on those days when I just don’t want to go to the gym–namely “Body by Bethenny,” an instant energizer.
One thing that is great about yoga is the balancing effect that you get at the end of a session. The calming breath patterns and stretches align your spine and relax your muscles, leaving you feeling loose and energized. What better way to add even more balance to your life than to bring natural elements into your workout gear.
Organic fabrics are quickly becoming the preferred material for fitness lovers. Organic cotton, hemp and bamboo are among the most popular natural fibers used in apparel. Sidenote: Bamboo will naturally wick moisture, has antibacterial features and feels amazing to the touch.
The cost for these products can be high, on average you will see tops and bottoms ranging from $30-$70. For all you fitness fashionistas, the price directly compares to your other name brand gear, and you still look great. That is a direct win for your pocket and the Earth!

My advice: Read this blog post and purchase a cute organic top and/or bottom (thank you Super Sigma for reducing the emissions used to produce such a stylish outfit and thus saving the world…again). I love yoga! Recently, I’ve been practicing Restorative Yoga, which focuses on holding postures for long periods of time. It is super relaxing and a great way more me to manage my stress.
I also love the idea of Netflix fitness videos- I’ve done a few good yoga ones when I couldn’t make it to class. It’s been awhile, I’ll have to try out some more!
I too love yoga…never thought of looking at Netflix for workouts! Love that!!
There is a great relaxing one called Candlelight Yoga. The instructor’s voice is soothing, and it is good for those days where you don’t have the energy and just want to center. I have also done some pilates on there as well. Enjoy!
I’m actually in the market for a new mat- any favorite brands?
Not a favorite brand, because mine is from TJMaxx
But I do know that the longer and wider the better. I have found a real issue before I got mine that my positioning during the exercises we off at times and I ended up on a slippery floor or a dirty one–not good. It will serve you well to find one that is large and easy to clean. I also found this gem for you, enjoy!
